Today marks the deadline for Oregon candidates to file to run for office, and Oregon Senate Democrats proudly announced their lineup of candidates for the 2018 election.
“In 2018, Senate Democrats have an excellent slate of candidates. Their victories in November will expand our majority in the Oregon Senate,” said Senate Majority Leader Ginny Burdick (D-Portland). “Our candidates will fight for the things that Oregonians want: more funding for public education, helping people across the state find a job, and ensuring access to affordable health care.”

Results from key contests show a wide margin of more Democratic voters than Republican voters participating in the May election..
“Senate Democrats have a strong field of candidates across Oregon, and yesterday’s election provides a snapshot of the excitement about electing Democrats in Republican-held swing seats,” said Tom Powers, executive director of the Senate Democratic Leadership Fund. “Democratic candidates won significantly more votes than their Republican counterparts, giving Democrats the edge to pick up seats in the general election.”
