The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA)

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) will help jumpstart the nation’s economy, while also bringing many benefits to Oregon. The federal government estimates that through this investment, our state will create or save about 44,000 jobs. As well, the act provides Oregon with revenue that will help the legislature better manage our budget shortfalls.

Despite the large scope of this plan, there are many resources available to provide transparency to the process as funds are spent. We encourage you to utilize these resources, which should provide you with more information about how this legislation will benefit Oregonians.

Governor Kulongoski’s web site for ARRA federal and “Go Oregon” state stimulus programs.

The “Tracking the Dollars” section is especially helpful in identifying projects in your district. This site displays a clickable map of Oregon that lists transportation projects by county. More detailed information will be added in the coming weeks.

The Governor’s office has released a thorough list of state agencies and their ARRA websites.

The Oregon Department of Education has created a website to help track K-12 information related to the federal stimulus package. The website includes specific funding information for school districts by program area and will be updated regularly.

Resource Guides from the Federal Government

DHHS has released a site detailing DHS programs that are being propped up by the federal stimulus. It includes federal and state contact information for all human services.

Senators Jeff Merkley and Ron Wyden have compiled an Oregon Resource Guide to the ARRA. As of March 23rd, this is the most up-to-date guide Congressional guide to Oregon’s share of the federal stimulus.

Congressman Blumenauer’s guide provides you with a breakdown of the federal stimulus projects, funds and how much of each are coming to Oregon.

General ARRA Information

This it the White House’s official website for the economic stimulus plan. While this site is certainly a work in progress, it will become an invaluable resource over the coming weeks as federal agencies report their progress. At the bottom of the home page, you can see a timeline for when new information is released.

This is text of the actual bill – around 11,000 pages. It is a good resource for those willing to take the time and search for what they need. The Obama Administration says this information will be broken down and placed on recovery.gov as the bill progresses.
